Iran President Pezeshkian: We continue to believe diplomacy is possible and are committed to pursuing a peaceful course. https://t.co/abxKdNwfI5
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Monday that “the window for diplomacy is still open” and that his administration will deploy all political and diplomatic tools to pursue a peaceful path, reiterating Tehran’s opposition to war. The statement, conveyed in a message to Iranian expatriates, follows months of stalled efforts to revive talks on Iran’s nuclear programme. Senior officials acknowledge that no date or venue has been fixed for a new round of negotiations between Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff. European governments are weighing whether to trigger the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action’s snapback mechanism, which would restore United Nations sanctions on Iran. Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Beghaei said activating the measure has “no legal basis” but confirmed consultations with the three European parties to the 2015 accord are continuing. Pezeshkian added that Iran welcomes constructive mediation, noting that Russia and China have expressed readiness to facilitate renewed discussions. Tehran maintains it remains within the 2015 nuclear deal and prefers diplomacy to resolve outstanding disputes.
