Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi arrived in Kabul on 20 July for a one-day visit aimed at reviving high-level security cooperation between the two neighbours. He was accompanied by the country’s special representative for Afghanistan, Sadiq Khan, and other senior officials, and was received at Kabul International Airport by Afghanistan’s Deputy Interior Minister Mohammad Nabi Omari. Naqvi is due to meet Afghan Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani for talks expected to focus on cross-border security, counter-terrorism coordination and broader bilateral issues. The trip marks the first visit to Afghanistan by Pakistan’s newly appointed interior chief and comes amid persistent concerns over militant activity along the shared frontier.
