Pakistan's Supreme Court has reinstated the Army Act in its original form, allowing civilians to be tried in military courts. This ruling overturns a previous decision that had blocked military trials for civilians accused of attacking military installations. The verdict is seen as a setback for former Prime Minister Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, which has faced a crackdown. The constitutional bench of the Supreme Court delivered this ruling, marking a significant development in Pakistan's judicial and political landscape. Separately, the Supreme Court also addressed the case concerning reserved seats, where two judges rejected review petitions filed by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), while the majority of the constitutional bench issued notices. Additionally, the National Conference Party (NCP) has called for the Election Commission to be held accountable to the Supreme Judicial Council.
