Manchester United have completed the signing of Paraguayan left-back Diego León from Cerro Porteño, adding the highly rated 18-year-old to Erik ten Hag’s defensive options ahead of the 2025-26 season. Sky Sports reported the agreement could be worth as much as £7 million, while The Athletic said United will pay an initial $4 million with a further $5 million tied to first-team appearances and performance-related add-ons. The Premier League club reached a pre-contract with Cerro Porteño in December 2024 and finalised the move after León became eligible for registration on turning 18. León has already logged 33 senior matches and scored four goals for the Paraguayan side. “I dreamed of this as a child,” the defender told local media before departing for England, adding that he aims to earn first-team minutes quickly during pre-season.
