Manchester United has reached an agreement to sign forward Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford after protracted negotiations spanning over six weeks. The deal, finalized in mid-July 2025, is reportedly worth up to £71 million ($95.5 million), including a £65 million fixed fee plus £5-7 million in add-ons. Brentford initially set their valuation near £70 million and rejected Manchester United's earlier bids of approximately £55 million and £62.5 million. Despite the initial stand-off, Manchester United remained disciplined on price and increased their offer to meet Brentford's demands. Mbeumo, a 26-year-old Cameroon international and Brentford's 20-goal forward, expressed a clear preference to join Manchester United over other interested clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, who have denied making any offer. The transfer is Manchester United's second major signing of the summer and includes a five-year contract for the player. The medical examination for Mbeumo was scheduled for early July, with the club aiming to complete the transfer before their pre-season tour in the United States. Brentford has also been preparing for Mbeumo's potential departure by targeting replacements. The transfer marks one of the most expensive in Manchester United's history, making Mbeumo the club's sixth most costly signing.
