FC Porto has bolstered its forward line by signing Dutch striker Luuk de Jong on a free transfer after the 34-year-old’s contract with PSV Eindhoven expired. The veteran was unveiled at the Estádio do Dragão on 3 August, minutes before Porto’s preseason friendly against Atlético Madrid. De Jong, who will wear the No. 26 shirt under new head coach Francesco Farioli, returns to Iberian football after previous stints with Barcelona and Sevilla. He joins the Primeira Liga side having scored 186 goals in eight seasons across two spells with PSV, where he became the club’s second-highest scorer of all time. Porto’s presentation took place in front of a capacity crowd that had gathered for the Atlético match, which also featured tributes to former Porto and Atlético forward Diogo Jota. Club legends Paulo Futre and Radamel Falcao attended the event, underscoring expectations as Porto prepares for the 2025-26 campaign.
