Hocevar, Suarez, ADillon, Keselowski, Brown, Gilliland, Herbst all destroyed. #NASCAR
Oh lord - big wreck and the track is basically entirely blocked! Yikes. Gilliland, Hocevar, Suarez, A. Dillon, Brown, Herbst and some others. Looks like it happened when the No. 77 smacked the wall and killed the toe link(s). Gridlock on the Chicago streets.
Carson Hocevar came off the corner and pounded the wall and spun. Then others came in with nowhere to go.
A major pile-up during the Grant Park 165 NASCAR Cup Series street race in Chicago blocked the circuit on Sunday. The incident began when Carson Hocevar’s No. 77 car struck the wall while exiting a corner and spun back onto the racing line. With the track obscured, Austin Dillon, Brad Keselowski, Daniel Suárez, Todd Gilliland, Will Brown and Riley Herbst were among those who collided with the stationary car or with each other, leaving several vehicles heavily damaged. Track workers moved in to clear debris as the field was brought under caution and cars were stopped on course. No injuries were immediately reported, but multiple teams face significant repair bills and potential retirements from the inaugural Chicago street-course event. Officials had not yet announced when racing would resume while cleanup and damage assessments continued.
