NASCAR begins its second annual Chicago Street Course weekend on Saturday with practice and qualifying sessions for both national series. The Xfinity Series opens the day with a 50-minute practice at 10:30 a.m. Eastern on The CW app, followed immediately by a single-round, group qualifying session. Forty cars have entered, leaving two drivers to miss the afternoon race. Cup Series teams take to the 2.2-mile downtown circuit at 1 p.m. Eastern on TruTV. The field will be split into two 25-minute practice groups and then into a single-round, group qualifying format. Forty-one cars are on the preliminary entry list, so the slowest of the five non-chartered cars—Corey Heim, Josh Bilicki, Katherine Legge, Timmy Hill or Shane van Gisbergen’s teammate Joey Brown—will fail to make Sunday’s main event. Officials confirmed that the alternate start-finish line first used last year remains in place, situated just beyond Turn 11 and before the final corner onto the frontstretch.
