Former U.S. national security adviser John Bolton told CNN that Russian President Vladimir Putin "clearly won" the 15 August summit in Alaska with U.S. President Donald Trump, even though, in Bolton’s words, Trump "did not lose." Bolton said the U.S. leader emerged with little more than an understanding that additional meetings might follow. By contrast, Bolton argued, Putin advanced his objective of rebuilding ties with Washington, escaped the threat of new U.S. sanctions, avoided any commitment to a cease-fire in Ukraine and left Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky uninformed about the talks. No date has been set for a subsequent Trump-Putin meeting.

John Bolton: “Trump didn’t lose, but Putin clearly won. Trump didn't come away with anything except more meetings…Trump looked very tired up there. I mean, very tired. Not disappointed. Tired.” https://t.co/5OeqZ0gDBC
