Russian President Vladimir Putin used a 6 July address to the All-Russia People’s Front forum in Moscow to commend volunteers and activists for what he called their “sincere service to the Fatherland.” The movement, created to marshal civic support for government initiatives, has played a central role in supplying troops engaged in the military campaign in Ukraine and in assisting their families as well as civilians in newly annexed and border regions. Putin said the organisation has supported “our heroes on the front lines” since 2022 and framed its work as a nationwide effort to secure a peaceful and safe future for Russia amid what he characterised as mounting Western hostility. He presented state awards to individuals and groups that have delivered equipment, medical supplies and humanitarian aid to units fighting in Donbass and other areas.
