Russian President Vladimir Putin said on 1 August that Russian forces are advancing along the entire front line in Ukraine, citing progress in the border zone as well as the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions. Putin characterised the momentum as “positive,” noting that the scale of territorial gains varies by sector but is occurring “in every direction.” His remarks highlight Moscow’s effort to press its offensive more than three years after launching a full-scale invasion of its neighbour.
