Russia has completed the first phase of a new ammunition factory in Venezuela designed to produce cartridges for Kalashnikov assault rifles. The state arms corporation Rostec announced that the facility will manufacture up to 70 million rounds annually, specifically 7.62 mm cartridges. This development is seen as a step to enhance Venezuela's defense capabilities and marks a deepening of military cooperation between Russia and Venezuela. The factory's establishment also reflects Russia's efforts to circumvent international sanctions and expand its defense industry footprint in Latin America. Rosoboronexport, Russia's state arms exporter, played a key role in the project, which is expected to significantly increase Venezuela's potential in arms production.
