Former U.S. President Donald Trump said he would impose additional sanctions on Russia if its war in Ukraine is not resolved ahead of his planned meeting with President Vladimir Putin. Speaking in a Fox News Radio interview, Trump described sanctions as a potent leverage tool and warned that Moscow would face punitive measures if the conflict drags on. Trump added that "economic incentives and sanctions are very powerful," without specifying what inducements might be offered during the talks. He also claimed that Washington’s recent secondary sanctions on India, imposed over its dealings with Russia, helped prompt Putin to request the meeting. Trump declined to elaborate when pressed on the nature of any incentives he might extend to the Russian leader.
