Last night, Ukrainian long-range FPV attack drones successfully hunted down and struck a Russian Buyan-M corvette operating in the Sea of Azov as a Kalibr cruise missile launcher. The first Ukrainian drone hit the ship's radar, while the second hit the superstructure/bridge. https://t.co/NWUHpdyQmd

Ukraine’s military intelligence said long-range first-person-view drones struck a Russian Buyan-M class corvette operating in the Sea of Azov overnight on 28 August, damaging the vessel’s radar and bridge. The corvette is designed to launch Kalibr cruise missiles that have been used against Ukrainian targets since Moscow’s full-scale invasion. Hours later, Russia’s Defense Ministry released video it says shows an unmanned surface vehicle hitting the Ukrainian Navy reconnaissance ship "Simferopol" in the Danube delta near Odesa. Russian officials claimed the vessel sank, while Kyiv acknowledged it was struck, reporting at least one sailor dead and several crew members wounded or missing. The opposing statements highlight an escalation in the use of sea- and air-launched drones around the Black Sea and its adjoining waterways. Russian attacks with naval drones in the Danube are rare, while Kyiv has increasingly targeted Russian ships inside the Sea of Azov to disrupt cruise-missile launches.
