The U.S. Coast Guard Barque Eagle, the largest tall ship in U.S. government service and an active-duty training cutter since 1946, made a rare visit to San Francisco in late June 2025. The ship, known as "America's Tall Ship," docked at Pier 17 for its first visit to the city in 16 years, offering free public tours as part of its 14-week West Coast tour. Following its San Francisco stop, the Eagle continued its itinerary by mooring in Seattle in early July, marking its first visit there since 2008. The vessel plays a key role in training future Coast Guard officers by providing essential seamanship skills and leadership development during their Academy experience.
