FC Bayern Munich said on 1 July that attacking midfielder Jamal Musiala will inherit the club’s No. 10 shirt once the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup concludes. The 22-year-old has worn No. 42 since breaking into the first team but will switch numbers for the 2025-26 season, the Bundesliga champions confirmed in a statement. The change is possible after winger Leroy Sané left Bayern for Galatasaray, vacating the shirt he had worn since arriving from Manchester City in 2020. Tournament registration rules prevent Bayern from altering squad numbers during the Club World Cup, so Musiala will complete the competition with his current jersey before moving to the iconic No. 10. Bayern said the decision had been discussed during Musiala’s recent contract extension and reflects the club’s plan to make him a long-term focal point of its attack.
