Chelsea’s first-team squad will direct part of the bonuses they earned for winning the FIFA Club World Cup toward the families of Portuguese internationals Diogo Jota and André Silva, according to multiple reports citing club and player sources. The London side shared roughly £11.4 million (about €13–14 million) in prize money after defeating Paris Saint-Germain in the tournament final. From that pool, players have collectively set aside more than €400,000—about the same as each individual’s bonus share—to support the relatives of Jota and Silva, who died in a car accident in Zamora, Spain, on 3 July. The gesture comes ahead of Premier League tributes planned for this weekend, including a minute’s silence across all matches and Liverpool’s retirement of Jota’s No. 20 shirt. Chelsea said the donation reflects the squad’s respect for the two footballers and solidarity with their families.
