Flamengo had been negotiating the signing of 26-year-old Irish winger Mikey Johnston from West Bromwich Albion, a club in the English second division. Johnston, nicknamed "Magic," had previously played in Portugal and was familiar to Flamengo's director José Boto from their time at Vitória de Guimarães. However, Flamengo ultimately decided to cancel the transfer after Johnston failed medical examinations and faced strong internal and fan opposition. The club's president, Luiz Eduardo Baptista (Bap), explained the decision by emphasizing the need to prioritize players who can contribute more playing time. Separately, Flamengo rejected a €22 million (R$ 143 million) offer from AS Roma for right-back Wesley, despite an agreement between the player and Roma. Flamengo is reportedly holding out for a €25 million fee, matching a proposal from Zenit. Additionally, a Saudi club offered Flamengo R$ 14 million for a loan deal for player Michael, but no confirmation on Flamengo's response has been reported.
