Brazilian club Flamengo has rejected a €22 million proposal from Italy’s AS Roma for 21-year-old right-back Wesley. The package comprised €20 million in cash and up to €2 million in performance-related bonuses, equivalent to roughly R$143 million. Despite the player having already agreed five-year personal terms with Roma, Flamengo informed the Italian side that the bid is insufficient. According to people familiar with the negotiations, the Rio de Janeiro club is holding out for at least €25 million—the same amount it recently refused from Russia’s Zenit. Roma, coached by Gian Piero Gasperini, is expected to consider an improved offer in the coming days as the club seeks to secure the defender before the European transfer window gathers pace.
