Wolverhampton Wanderers have reached a verbal agreement to buy Colombian winger Jhon Arias from Brazil’s Fluminense for about €20 million (roughly £15 million or R$130 million). The 27-year-old has accepted personal terms and is arranging travel to England, with the Premier League club expected to finalise a medical and contract signing in the coming days. Fluminense owns 40% of Arias’s economic rights and is set to receive close to R$45 million from the sale, while Colombian side Patriotas will collect 50% and the player’s agent the remaining 10%. Arias joined Fluminense in 2021 and became a key figure, logging 229 appearances, 47 goals and 55 assists. He was named in the tournament best XI at the expanded 2025 FIFA Club World Cup after helping the Rio club reach the semifinals, where they lost 2–0 to Chelsea. Visibly emotional after that defeat, the forward apologised to supporters and later formally asked Fluminense to sanction his move to Europe. The signing would make Arias the first major addition of Wolves’ summer window and follows the club’s separate negotiations for right-back Marc Pubill as manager Gary O’Neil looks to deepen his squad ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.
