FC Porto and Egypt’s Al Ahly shared an eight-goal spectacle at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, finishing 4–4 in their final Group A match of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. The result, played in the early hours of 24 June, ensured both sides were eliminated from the tournament. Al Ahly striker Wessam Abou Ali delivered a hat-trick, scoring in the 15th, 45+2nd (penalty) and 51st minutes, while Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane added the Egyptians’ fourth. Porto replied through Rodrigo Mora, William Gomes, substitute Samu Aghehowa and a late strike from Pepê in the 88th minute to salvage the draw. The stalemate left Porto and Al Ahly on two points apiece, well behind Palmeiras and Inter Miami, who advanced to the round of 16 with five points each after their own 1–1 draw. Neither Porto nor Al Ahly recorded a victory in the group stage. Porto head coach Martín Anselmi conceded after the match that “we didn’t do things well” and declined to discuss his future, as Portuguese media questioned his position following the club’s winless campaign.
