UEFA’s Appeals Body on 7 July rejected Real Madrid’s attempt to overturn disciplinary measures imposed on Antonio Rüdiger, Kylian Mbappé and Dani Ceballos for misconduct during the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Atlético Madrid in March. The decision confirms fines of €40,000 for Rüdiger, €30,000 for Mbappé and €20,000 for Ceballos for violating Article 11.2(b) on basic rules of decent conduct. Rüdiger and Mbappé each remain under a one-match suspension that will be activated if they commit a similar offence within the next year. UEFA also upheld a €15,000 penalty on Real Madrid for a supporter’s Nazi salute during the away leg against Arsenal on 8 April. The club faces a suspended sanction that would bar it from selling tickets to its fans for one future away match should a comparable incident occur within 12 months. Real Madrid may still take the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, but Monday’s ruling leaves the existing fines and conditional suspensions in place as the club prepares for its upcoming competitions.
