Google’s June 10 rollout of the stable Android 16 operating system is drawing complaints from Pixel handset owners, who report that the update has introduced serious lock-screen and alarm malfunctions. Users say tap-to-wake often fails, screens remain dark after pressing the power button, brightness levels fluctuate unpredictably and, in some cases, scheduled alarms do not sound on either the phone or paired Wear OS devices. The issues span several Pixel models, with reports multiplying on Google’s support forums and technology news sites in the first week of July. Affected users have found only temporary relief by restarting their devices or resetting adaptive-brightness data, fixes that typically last a few hours before problems recur. A Google product-support representative confirmed that the company is aware of the defects and that engineering teams are building a corrective software patch, although no timetable has been provided. Until an official fix arrives, Pixel owners are being advised to set redundant alarms on secondary devices and monitor future system updates.
