Google has released Android 16 Quarterly Platform Release 1 (QPR1) Beta 3 to Pixel handsets enrolled in its beta program, marking what the company says is the final test build before the update is made widely available in September. The July build targets stability, resolving issues that caused random device restarts, broken notification and media controls, camera black-screen errors at launch, and kernel problems affecting system performance, according to Google’s release notes. While light on new features, Beta 3 restores the colorful weather icons in the At a Glance widget, adds dynamic theming to the Pixel Launcher search bar, and introduces an accessibility ‘keyboard magnifier’ that enlarges characters for users with vision impairments. The over-the-air package is rolling out now to compatible Pixel models—generally Pixel 6 and newer—via Settings › System › Software updates. Google says no further feature changes are planned before the quarterly update ships to the broader Android 16 user base in the autumn.
