Google is preparing its first significant refresh of the Nest smart-home line in several years, according to leaks reported by 9to5Google, AndroidPolice and other specialist outlets. Renderings and product information point to new indoor and outdoor security cameras and a video doorbell, each upgraded to 2K HDR resolution with up to 6× zoom and limited local storage to maintain recording during internet outages. The devices are expected to ship with Gemini-powered features, including natural-language event search and a “Daily Summaries” recap that condenses footage into short highlight reels. The software overhaul dovetails with Google’s broader plan to replace Assistant with Gemini across Home and Nest hardware. Separately, documentation seen by 9to5Google indicates the company will rebrand its Nest Aware cloud service as “Google Home Premium.” The tiered subscription would continue to offer extended video history while adding Gemini capabilities such as conversational queries and on-demand summaries. An official launch date has not been confirmed, but the hardware and subscription changes are expected to be detailed around Google’s customary October product event.
