Warp, a developer-focused terminal application, has launched its AI-powered version for Windows after over a year in development, marking a significant expansion from its previous availability on macOS and Linux. CEO Zach Lloyd emphasized that Warp is a native app, not an Electron app or a VS Code clone, making it the first 100% native AI-first developer tool on Windows. The app supports multiple shell environments including PowerShell, Git Bash, and WSL, and integrates with the Windows Package Manager, WinGet. Warp's AI integration allows users to interact with the terminal using natural language commands, enhancing productivity by enabling tasks such as setting up projects, debugging, and code generation. The terminal also features a reimagined user interface with an IDE-like input editor and structured output, which supports features like AI context attachment and command sharing among teams. Warp is considered the most agentic devtool currently available. Microsoft has released its AI chatbot, Copilot, as a dedicated app for macOS, expanding its availability beyond the web and mobile platforms. The app, which can be launched using the Option+space shortcut, requires macOS 14.0 or later and is compatible only with Macs equipped with an M1 chip or newer. Currently, Copilot for macOS is available in the US and UK App Stores, with plans for a broader rollout.
