Accounts with largish followings (100K or more) have obviously either been purchased outright by some agency, or is being run by one, as the “content” is the same formulaic AI slop of mainstream news articles being rewritten. Can X give us some transparency on account ownership?
X is behind the bot activity from unverified accounts on this app. The bots are intended to get more large accounts to block/filter out unverified accounts. This then increases demand for verification via paid subscriptions, as the non-bot unverified users still want to be heard.
X, formerly known as Twitter, has introduced an AI-powered enhancement to its Community Notes feature by allowing large language models (LLMs) to draft Community Notes. These AI-generated notes aim to accelerate and broaden the platform's fact-checking capabilities by proposing contextual information on posts that users might find misleading. However, human contributors retain full control over which notes are published, as AI-generated notes must be reviewed and rated as helpful by diverse human users before appearing on the platform. The rollout includes an AI Note Writer API, enabling developers to create their own fact-checking AI agents for submission and review. This initiative responds to the challenge that only about 3% of human-submitted Community Notes have been approved out of 52,000 attempts, which has slowed the correction of misinformation. While the integration of AI is intended to improve the speed and comprehensiveness of fact-checking, concerns remain about the reliability of AI-generated content, given the potential for hallucinations or inaccuracies inherent in large language models. X’s Vice President of Product has discussed the rationale behind this move, emphasizing the balance between AI assistance and human oversight to maintain credibility.
