YouTube has implemented new monetization policies effective July 15, 2025, targeting AI-generated and low-effort content. The platform will no longer monetize videos that are fully AI-generated, reused, copied, mass-produced, or repetitive, requiring creators to use their real voices and produce original content to be eligible for earnings. This move addresses growing concerns over the proliferation of low-quality AI-generated videos, often described as "AI slop," which flood the platform with inauthentic and repetitive material. The updated guidelines aim to prioritize originality and quality, enhancing the overall user experience. The policy changes do not target reaction videos or clip-based content generally, and there is no change to the reused content policy. Following YouTube's announcement, Meta has also declared a crackdown on unoriginal content on Facebook. Separately, Trump Media has filed trademarks for "Truth Social AI" and "Truth Social AI Search," indicating plans to integrate artificial intelligence features into its Truth Social platform on mobile and web.
