SpaceX’s Starship completed its tenth integrated test flight overnight on Aug. 26–27, producing vivid images as the stainless-steel vehicle plunged back through Earth’s atmosphere enveloped in a plasma sheath. Video relayed via the company’s Starlink satellite network showed the spacecraft performing its signature belly-flop maneuver before orienting for landing. The brief mission marks the latest step in SpaceX’s effort to qualify the fully reusable, two-stage launch system for crewed lunar and, eventually, Mars missions. The company has conducted a series of iterative flights to validate heat-shield performance, aerodynamic control and rapid reuse of the vehicle’s Super Heavy booster and upper stage.
Just some views from today's SpaceX Starship Flight 10 launch & landing! Reentry here was a beautiful sight. So cool to have the plasma physics on display as Starship sheds TONS of energy slowing down in a belly flop through the atmosphere #SpaceExploration #Starlink https://t.co/dEmlq3AK67
Wow, these views via Starlink of the plasma field going over SpaceX's Starship rocket as it reenters Earth's atmosphere are beautiful. https://t.co/tvARfnloJ3
Amazing views of Starship reentering the atmosphere right now https://t.co/0ynDOchSsK
