Spanish extreme-sports athlete Marta Jiménez, known to television audiences as the “mujer adrenalina” on the prime-time show “El Hormiguero,” died on Sunday after a base-jumping accident in the Pyrenees, the Guardia Civil said. She was 34. Rescue services received an alert at about 10:30 a.m. after Jiménez’s parachute apparently malfunctioned during a jump from a mountain crest near Punta Calva in Huesca province. A helicopter team located her shortly afterward, but medics confirmed that the injuries she sustained were incompatible with life. Her body was transferred to the Instituto de Medicina Legal de Huesca for an autopsy. A chemical engineer by training, Jiménez founded the adventure company High Jump and joined Antena 3’s “El Hormiguero” in its 18th season, quickly becoming a popular fixture for performing high-risk stunts on air. The program’s host, Pablo Motos, said the team was “desolate” at her loss but would remember her enthusiasm “for achieving the impossible.”
