IBM has acquired Seek AI, a New York-based data analysis startup founded in 2021 by CEO Sarah Nagy, for an undisclosed sum. Seek AI specializes in natural language interfaces for enterprise data, enabling users to ask questions using natural language, which are then automatically translated into database queries for advanced analysis and summarization. The company raised approximately $10 million from investors prior to the acquisition. Seek AI's technology will be integrated into IBM's newly announced Watsonx AI Labs, an AI accelerator in New York City. The startup will move its headquarters to One Madison, the location of Watsonx AI Labs and IBM's new Manhattan offices. Watsonx AI Labs is designed to bring together IBM researchers, engineers, and startups to develop AI solutions for businesses. Participating startups will have access to IBM resources, potential investment from IBM Ventures, and opportunities for collaboration with local colleges and research institutions. Startups that successfully launch products at the accelerator may also benefit from IBM's $500 million enterprise AI fund. IBM's Q1 earnings recently beat estimates, driven by software growth and strong demand for AI solutions, underscoring the company's continued focus on expanding its enterprise AI capabilities.
