$JOBY Joby Aviation's First Conforming Aircraft Set for Final Assembly, Paving Path to Commercialization
Joby Aviation said on 6 Aug. 2025 that it has moved its first FAA-conforming electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft into final assembly at the company’s Marina, California facility. The airframe satisfies Federal Aviation Administration design and production requirements and will be prepared for paint and systems integration before entering Type Inspection Authorization flight testing. Completion of the conforming prototype marks the last major manufacturing milestone before the aircraft joins the FAA’s flight-test program, a prerequisite for type certification. Joby expects the timetable to keep it on course to begin commercial electric air-taxi operations in the United States in 2025.
