Violence in southern Syria's Sweida province has resulted in a rapidly increasing death toll over several days of clashes, according to multiple reports from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and other monitors. Initial reports on July 15 indicated 203 fatalities, which rose to 248 by July 16. Later updates on the same day and the following days reported the death toll surpassing 300 and then 350. By July 17, the number of deaths was reported to have reached 516, with casualties including local Druze militias, Bedouin tribes, Syrian government forces, and civilians. Among the fatalities, 71 were civilians including children and women, and 83 were reportedly executed in the field by Syrian Defense and Interior forces. The violence also involved Israeli airstrikes near Damascus and southern Syria. On July 17 and 18, reports indicated the death toll approaching 600, while a separate human rights group cited at least 321 deaths. Hospitals in Sweida have received over 400 bodies since the violence began. The clashes continue amid ongoing tensions and military actions in the region.
