On July 3, 2025, Syria officially unveiled a new national visual identity during a ceremony held at the Presidential Palace in Damascus, attended by Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa. The rebranding replaces the old Baathist emblem with a redesigned golden eagle featuring 14 feathers, each symbolizing one of Syria's 14 governorates and marking 14 years since the Syrian revolution began. The emblem also includes three stars above the eagle. The launch was accompanied by nationwide celebrations in major cities including Damascus, Aleppo, Latakia, Hama, Deir ez-Zor, and Idlib, featuring drone light shows, fireworks, and public gatherings in central squares such as Umayyad Square and Al-Muhafaza Square. President al-Sharaa emphasized that the new identity reflects Syria's unity, sovereignty, and a break from the previous regime's era, underscoring that Syria does not accept division. The new emblem and visual identity are intended to symbolize a modern state emerging from the will of its people, representing resilience, cultural heritage, and national belonging. The updated design will be featured on official documents, including Syrian passports, and marks a transition to a new political phase following the fall of the Assad regime after nearly 25 years. The rebranding effort is seen as part of Syria's national reconstruction process after the end of the Baath Party's 61-year rule.
