US Treasury Secretary Bessent said the federal government is collecting tariff revenues at a record pace, underscoring the continuing impact of President Donald Trump’s trade stance. Americans paid about $30 billion in tariffs last month, equal to roughly $360 billion on an annualized basis and more than 230 percent higher than the same period a year ago. Bessent told reporters on Tuesday that receipts could climb further, projecting tariff income may top $500 billion for the full year and rise again in September. The increased inflows, she added, are expected to fuel what she called a “bigger CAPEX boom” as businesses adjust to the higher cost environment.
