At Google I/O 2024, Google announced significant updates to its AI capabilities, particularly integrating its flagship AI, Gemini, into Google Search. Users will soon be able to search using video and text queries, receiving AI-generated overviews of the results. Google will also show AI-generated answers by default to millions of users. The company introduced Gemini 1.5 Pro and Gemini 1.5 Flash, along with Project Astra, a response to OpenAI's GPT-4o. Additionally, Google revealed new image generation capabilities with Imagen 3 and new video generation features with Veo. Multimodal capabilities will be added to Gemini Nano. The AI enhancements aim to revamp the search experience and maintain Google's position as the world's most popular search engine, with changes rolling out in the US by the end of this week.
