Goran Ivanisevic says he’s never seen a more unprepared player in his life than Stefanos Tsitsipas: “He wants, but he doesn’t do anything. All ‘I want, I want’, but I don’t see that progress. I was shocked. I have never seen a more unprepared player in my life. With this knee, https://t.co/FqfbchuYLc
Goran Ivanisevic, who joined Stefanos Tsitsipas’s coaching team a month ago, sharply criticised the Greek after his first-round exit from Wimbledon. Tsitsipas retired before the third set against France’s Valentin Royer, losing the opening two sets, and has now failed to progress beyond the early rounds at all three Grand Slams this season. In an interview with Serbian outlet Sport Klub, the 2001 Wimbledon champion said he was "shocked" by Tsitsipas’s condition, calling him "the most unprepared player" he had encountered and claiming that, even after multiple knee surgeries, he felt "three times better prepared" than the world No. 26. Ivanisevic added that the 26-year-old "keeps saying ‘I want, I want,’ but I don’t see any progress," urging him to resolve off-court issues to regain a place in the top 10. Tsitsipas, who captured the Dubai title in February but has since slipped outside the top 20, had welcomed Ivanisevic’s forthright style when announcing the partnership. The coach’s public rebuke now highlights the urgency for improvements as the pair seek to reverse a season marked by early defeats at the Australian Open, Roland Garros and Wimbledon.
