Alexander Zverev has begun training with Toni Nadal at the Rafa Nadal Academy in Manacor, Mallorca, and is expected to appoint the Spaniard as his new coach, according to multiple media reports including Sky Sports Germany. The move would end Zverev’s long-standing arrangement with his father, Alexander Sr., and follows the German world No. 3’s early exit from Wimbledon, where he fell in the first round to France’s Arthur Rinderknech. Zverev has since spoken publicly about struggling for motivation and seeking fresh guidance. Toni Nadal, 64, guided his nephew Rafael Nadal to 16 of his 22 Grand Slam titles and more recently worked with Felix Auger-Aliassime from 2021 to 2024. Reports add that Rafael Nadal could serve in an informal mentoring role for Zverev, although none of the parties have formally confirmed the arrangement. If finalized, the partnership would mark the fourth time Zverev turns to a Spanish coach—after previous stints with Juan Carlos Ferrero, David Ferrer and Sergi Bruguera—as he looks to convert his 24 ATP titles and seven Masters 1000 crowns into an elusive first Grand Slam victory.
