Third seed Iga Swiatek defeated Elena Rybakina 7-5, 6-3 on Sunday to advance to her first Cincinnati Open final and extend a dominant summer run that has seen her win 13 of her last 14 matches. The 98-minute semi-final swung when Swiatek erased a 3-5 deficit in the opening set, reeling off four straight games before controlling the second behind improved serving and relentless baseline pressure. The victory sends the 24-year-old Pole to her 29th career tour-level final and 13th at WTA 1000 level, tying Aryna Sabalenka and Petra Kvitova for the fifth-most since the tier was introduced. Swiatek, now 48-9 on the season, also clinched early qualification for the eight-player WTA Finals. Rybakina, seeded ninth, had eliminated world No. 1 Sabalenka in the quarter-finals but could not maintain her early momentum, committing crucial backhand errors that allowed Swiatek to break twice late in the first set and once more for 3-1 in the second. Swiatek will face the winner of the other semi-final between Jasmine Paolini and Veronika Kudermetova in Monday’s championship match.
