Erdoğan Attacks CHP Infighting, Launches AK Party’s Summer Mobilisation

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan used the ruling AK Party’s Extended Provincial Chairs Meeting in Ankara on Tuesday to rally party officials for an intensive summer outreach drive and to sharpen criticism of the opposition Republican People’s Party. Erdoğan said the party would stage “Türkiye Yüzyılı” gatherings across the country, aiming to contact 750,000 young people and reinforce ties ahead of the AK Party’s 24th anniversary in August. Erdoğan accused CHP leaders of deepening their internal feud and insulting their own former presidential candidate, calling the behaviour “düşeni yemek bir CHP geleneği” (“feeding on the fallen is a CHP tradition”). He argued that the dispute had reached levels that offend Alevi citizens and warned that Ankara would tolerate no action that undermines national unity. Any legal cases arising from the quarrel, he added, will be settled by an independent judiciary. The president also announced that party cadres will convene for a policy camp in Kızılcahamam on 11–13 July and promised to maintain the government’s emphasis on public works, saying the opposition “cannot hold a candle” to the AK Party’s record. “We exist for the 86 million,” Erdoğan said, urging officials to avoid complacency and use the summer months to widen the gap with the opposition.
