President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan outlined new trade and industrial targets at the Turkey Exporters Assembly’s 32nd General Assembly and Export Champions Award Ceremony in Istanbul. He said Ankara aims to lift sales to “distant” markets to $50 billion and raise the share of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation countries in total exports to 30% by 2028. Erdoğan added that 32 provinces already post more than $1 billion in annual exports, underscoring broader geographic participation in trade. Erdoğan highlighted advances in the defence industry, claiming Turkish companies now manufacture two out of every three unmanned aerial vehicles sold worldwide. Demand for the domestically developed Kaan fighter jet is expected to accelerate, and the president pledged to replicate the country’s drone success in combat aircraft production. Turning to the domestic economy, Erdoğan said consumer-price growth has been easing for a year and the government expects inflation to fall into the 20-percent range by year-end. He also noted that women accounted for $60.1 billion of exports in 2024, doubling their contribution since 2013 and lifting their share to 23.6%.
