Türkiye’s Head of Communications Fahrettin Altun used a panel in Damascus titled “Cooperation on the Path to Peace and Stability: Türkiye–Syria Brotherhood” to underline Ankara’s commitment to a Syria that is free to shape its own future. In a written message to the gathering, Altun said Türkiye would continue to stand by the Syrian people during reconstruction and revival efforts, citing the two nations’ deep cultural, historical and religious ties. Altun highlighted concrete steps already taken to rebuild relations, including the reopening of Türkiye’s embassy in Damascus, the activation of its consulate in Aleppo and the resumption of Turkish Airlines flights to the Syrian capital. He added that bilateral cooperation is expanding across civil aviation, trade, health, energy and media, and pledged sustained humanitarian and developmental assistance through agencies such as AFAD, the Turkish Red Crescent and TIKA.
