Türkiye called on the Syrian government to end the surge in violence in the southern province of Suwayda, saying the conflict should be resolved “as soon as possible” through dialogue at the local level. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Öncü Keçeli said Ankara expects Damascus to restore security while respecting Syria’s sovereignty and territorial unity, adding that Türkiye will continue to support international efforts aimed at promoting stability and reconciliation in the country. The appeal follows armed clashes between Druze militias and Bedouin tribal fighters that erupted late Sunday in Suwayda near the Jordanian border. Initial Interior Ministry figures cited by local media put the death toll at more than 30, with close to 100 people wounded. Syrian security forces entered the area on Monday to impose order and disarm rival groups, underscoring persistent volatility nearly 14 years into the civil conflict.
