Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has pledged comprehensive support to help supply natural gas to Syria. Erdogan relayed Aliyev’s commitment after the two leaders met on the sidelines of an Economic Cooperation Organization summit in the Azerbaijani city of Khankendi. Erdogan added that Ankara will work with Damascus to speed up energy projects, noting that reliable access to natural gas is one of Syria’s most pressing needs. He described Aliyev’s offer as a significant step toward easing the country’s energy shortfall and said Turkish and Syrian officials will coordinate next steps.
