Turkey's Minister of National Education, Yusuf Tekin, has announced the reinstatement of mandatory school uniforms across schools. This decision was confirmed during a press conference and subsequent media appearances in late June 2025. Concurrently, a nationwide survey involving over 36,000 participants, conducted by Eğitim-Bir-Sen, revealed strong support for revising the current “4+4+4” compulsory education system. The survey indicated that nearly all teachers and school administrators, along with 78% of students and parents, believe the four-year high school duration is excessive and should be shortened. The proposed revision favors a “2+2” model, with two years of compulsory high school education followed by two years of optional study. Additionally, 83.7% of teachers, 90.2% of administrators, and 68.9% of parents expressed concerns that the current length of compulsory education delays students' entry into the workforce. The Ministry of National Education is reportedly considering reducing the compulsory high school education period from four years to two years, a move that has sparked debate and scrutiny, particularly after comments from MÜSİAD, a business association, suggesting that the current compulsory education duration hinders employment opportunities for young people.

Keza
