Turkish prosecutors have indicted 21 individuals, including actor Cem Yiğit Üzümoğlu, over their involvement in calls for a boycott following the arrest of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and other opposition politicians. The boycott was initiated by the country’s main opposition leader in response to these arrests. Those indicted face prison sentences of up to seven and a half years. The arrests of İmamoğlu and multiple officials from municipalities controlled by the opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) have been described by opposition figures as politically motivated.
