Fahrettin Altun, Turkey's Communications Director, criticized CHP leader Özgür Özel for using threatening and provocative language that he said undermines democratic politics and targets national unity. Altun emphasized that the will of the people is expressed solely through elections, not street actions. Separately, an investigation was launched into allegations of election fraud at the CHP Istanbul Provincial Congress, resulting in a detention order for CHP Istanbul Provincial Chairman Özgür Çelik. Çelik was taken into custody and later summoned for questioning. In a separate development, the Istanbul Financial Crimes Unit conducted an operation at the CHP-led Şile Municipality, detaining Mayor Özgür Kabadayı and five others on charges including bribery and embezzlement. Evidence including recordings of alleged bribery negotiations emerged. Subsequently, a request for Kabadayı's detention was made, and he was later arrested and suspended from his duties. The Interior Ministry has suspended a total of 17 CHP mayors, 16 of whom have been arrested. AK Party spokesperson Ömer Çelik condemned Özgür Özel's remarks about President Erdoğan, describing them as lacking political and moral decency and stating that Özel and his allies do not possess the political capacity to appreciate the president's value.
