The indictment alleges "chain forgery of official documents" and requests a prison sentence ranging from two years and six months up to eight years and nine months, along with a political ban that would prevent İmamoğlu from participating in elections. The case is part of a broader corruption investigation under which İmamoğlu was previously detained and removed from office. The trial for the diploma forgery charges is scheduled to begin on September 11, 2025.
