Reality-television personality Jax Taylor said on 16 July he will not return for Season 3 of Bravo’s “The Valley,” ending his involvement with the series after two seasons. In a written statement provided to multiple entertainment outlets, the 46-year-old former “Vanderpump Rules” cast member said, “After an incredibly challenging year and many honest conversations with my team and producers, I’ll be stepping away from the next season of ‘The Valley.’ Right now, my focus needs to be on my sobriety, my mental health, and coparenting. Taking this time is necessary for me to become the best version of myself — especially for our son, Cruz.” Taylor’s departure follows a tumultuous year documented on the show. Season 2 chronicled his 30-day stay in a mental-health facility, his public apology for verbal outbursts toward estranged wife Brittany Cartwright and the fallout from their divorce proceedings. In March he revealed a decades-long struggle with cocaine addiction and said he had surpassed 200 days of sobriety. Bravo has not issued a formal comment, but people close to the production said the network supports the decision. The Season 2 finale airs 22 July, to be followed by reunion episodes; producers have not announced how Taylor’s exit will affect casting for the already-renewed third season.
