German defence contractor Rheinmetall has supplied a fourth Role 2 mobile rescue station to Ukraine, bolstering the country’s frontline medical capacity as it defends against Russia’s invasion. The modular field hospital comprises three truck-trailers, each fitted with two expandable container modules that unfold into fully equipped areas for triage, emergency treatment, X-ray diagnostics, surgery and intensive care. The design allows the unit to be transported, assembled and made operational in a matter of hours, bringing advanced care closer to combat zones. Ahead of the hand-over, Ukrainian military medics completed specialised training at Rheinmetall Mobile Systeme’s facility in Meckenbeuren, where they learned to operate both the infrastructure and its medical equipment, including ventilators, monitoring systems and imaging devices. Rheinmetall said additional rescue stations and training courses are planned through the end of 2026.
